Google announced the release date of beta version of Android 14

Those who have Pixel 4, 4 XL, 4a, 4 (5G), 5, 5a, 6, 6 Pro and Pixel 6a have been given the opportunity to update their phone to Android 13. The update arrived in the middle of this month when most expected it to appear in October.

While those who have canceled the Android beta installation can join the beta (QPR) that starts next month, those still in the beta program will not have to do anything because they will receive an OTA update once it is released.

Google publishes these updates quarterly and those who become beta testers will get early access to the latest features Google adds to compatible Pixel models.

Naturally there are the usual caveats. Trial software is notoriously unstable, and unless you stick to the trial version until the stable version is released, leaving the trial software early will force you to erase the content of your device.

Google has updated the Android Beta software website. What's new? Google says, "Android 13 Beta ended with the stable public release of Android 13 in August 2022.

The beta program will continue in September with Android 13 Quarterly (QPRs) starting with the QPR1 beta." The site now gives us an idea of when the Android 14 beta program will start.

Google originally stated that the Android 13 QPR beta program will run until June 2023, but the site now says that the program "lasts until March 2023", which hints at April 2023 to start the Android 14 beta program.

It also means that instead of three quarterly versions of the platform, there will only be two followed by the start of the Android 14 beta in April.

This year, Pixel users had two beta programs running at the same time (Android 13 and Android 12 QPR). But by limiting the number of betas of Android 14 QPR to two, this will not happen again next year.

It also means that Android 14 Developer Preview can start in February as this year happened for Android 13. Whether this means that we can expect the release of Android 14 next August.
