Within a year and a half of the launch of Instagram's IGTV app, it has garnered just 7 million downloads out of more than one billion Instagram users, reflecting the lack of interest and the desire to get the app into users' devices.
Instagram noted that the majority of users browse long IGTV videos by appearing on their profile or browsing their channels from the exploration page or user accounts, and it is rare for someone to press the button assigned to them to access them.
In practice, you don't need the independent IGTV app to watch its long videos, but you can browse them in the Instagram app itself.
Instagram still doesn't share its earnings with users who upload their clips on IGTV and show them ads, the biggest criticism users make and see nothing encouraging to share long videos.
