UNICEF begins receiving donations of Bitcoin and Ethereum

In a remarkable step towards the adoption of cryptocurrencies, UNICEF announced the possibility of receiving donations and even paid in currencies Bitcoin and Ethereum, the first international NGO in this range to adopt cryptocurrencies,

UNICEF and its funding recipients will benefit from reduced fees and commissions imposed during the transfer of funds through cryptocurrencies, and donors will be able to see what their spending and transfers are.

Upon receipt of donations in digital currencies, UNICEF will not convert them into an international currency, such as the dollar or the euro, but will preserve them in digital form and even send them to fund the programs and operations it contributes as a digital currency.

To avoid loss of value due to sudden and significant change in cryptocurrencies, UNICEF will rely only on bitcoin and etherium for short-term programs as it maintains relative price stability.

Ethereum will make its first donation in its digital currency through UNICEF France, and UNICEF will also receive donations in the United States, Australia and New Zealand.

Last year, UNICEF launched the Hopepage site, which uses cryptocurrency mining to capitalize on the potential of visitors' computers. Today, more than 30,000 visitors donate processing capabilities on their computers to cryptocurrency mining and donate it to the organization.
