Netflix Reveals its Revenues and Subscribers According to Geographical Regions

For the first time in its history, Netflix company shared information about the expansion of its business and numbers of its subscribers outside the United States, through a file filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

The papers revealed that Netflix entered the United States, Canada, the countries of North Africa, the Middle East and Latin America, i.e. according to the geographical regions generally recognized in such divisions, which is something that the company did not previously do.

As the number of subscribers to the global broadcasting platform reached 158 million globally, most of the growth from 2017 until the end of last September was coming from outside the United States with a rate of 90% of the total growth.

The number of subscriptions in the European continent grew by 140% from the first quarter of 2017 until the last recorded date in the file, while the contributions during the same period in the Asia Pacific region increased to three times.

As for the Latin American countries, their contributions reached 29.4 million, an increase of 14 million contributions during almost three years, while Canada and the United States remained the two countries with the largest number of subscribers with 67.1 million.

As the company's income from these two countries reached $ 7.4 billion from the first quarter to the third of this year 2019, but in contrast, the growth in subscriber numbers was only 23% from the first quarter of 2017 to the third quarter of this year.

It is worth noting that Netflix is currently facing fierce competition after launching many new broadcasting platforms with diverse and enticing content and successful starts, including Disney Plus, Apple TV Plus and HBO Max, which means that growth may slow down, especially in Canada and the United States, but investing in premium content will be the way The only one to keep Netflix at the forefront of global broadcasting platforms.
