WhatsApp tests the self-destruct feature of messages on Android

In a move that was supposed to be strongly present in WhatsApp, Android app users may soon get the much-needed feature of self-destructing sent messages. Clearly, the possibility of self-sent messages can be destroyed after a specified period of time.

This is according to what a test version of WhatsApp on Android is available to a certain number of users.
For its part, the source pointed out that the test version with the version number of WhatsApp v2.19.275 includes this option, provided that it is an optional feature that must be activated first, and for the deleted messages, it will be deleted forever and will remain in effect only at the sender or receiver. Therefore, it will be very useful, especially for users dealing with sensitive information.

Also, the “self-destruct” feature of messages is one of the strengths of many popular messaging apps.

At the top of it is the Telegram application, through the "secret chat" feature, with which people can communicate with each other, and their messages disappear from their devices after a certain period of time. Users will also benefit from some other useful features at the same time, for example, not storing messages in secret chat on Telegram servers.

It also prevents users from forwarding messages and, most importantly, prevents them from taking a screen shot, so all secret chats in Telegram will be device specific and not part of the service cloud.

Another example is in the Facebook Messenger app, which also includes a “secret chat” feature, but here it only encrypts comprehensive messages and shared media content between users.

On WhatsApp, messages between users will be encrypted by default and set to self-destruct after 5 seconds to 60 minutes.

Additionally, group administrators will be able to prevent other group participants from sending text messages.

Finally, as we mentioned earlier, these features are still in the early stages of testing, and it is unclear when WhatsApp plans to launch this expected feature for all users.
